T15

T15 is informal shorthand for “about the fifteen highest-prestige US full-time MBA programs,” usually as sliced from recent U.S. News MBA ranking tables plus habit. The membership is less stable than M7. That is the point and the problem.

There is no charter. There is no fifteenth chair.

How it works

Applicants use T15 as a school-list generator. Forums treat it as a caste. When U.S. News reshuffles, arguments break out about whether a school “fell out of T15” as if a regulator had spoken.

Because peer assessment is sticky, the cluster moves slowly. Because placement and test medians move faster, a school can sit 12 one year and 18 the next without becoming a different classroom.

Example: you build a list of “T15 only” from a 2024 screenshot. Two schools on that screenshot sit at 16 and 17 in 2026. You now have a superstition, not a strategy. A function-first list (three schools that actually place into your desk) would have been shorter and more honest.

How it differs

M7 is a smaller nickname with a more repeated seven names. FT’s global 100 is a published method. T15 is a habit.

Common errors

Writing T15 in an essay. Treating a one-rank move as identity change. Importing the nickname into EMBA or online shopping.

List construction is the whole game. Some people mean US News 1–15 this year. Some mean a mental set that still includes a school now at 19. Write the names. If your function is real estate or operations, a school at 22 with a dominant pipeline beats a generic 14. Nicknames flatten those pipelines into a caste.
